Catching Up

Wow! It's been over a month since I've posted here. I've been busy working on my office bookcases--I'm building and painting all the components before I install them, so that's taking a little more time than I would prefer. Hope to have that completed and have pics up soon.

Photography
Doobie_Bros_(11)I've let my photography fall by the wayside lately; gotten out of the habit of taking my camera whenever I go out. I did manage to take a few pics this past month. A couple of friends from high school and I attended the Doobie Brothers concert in Muskogee, OK earlier in June. Got some pretty good photos before security informed me that a "camera with interchangeable lenses was not allowed. The band considers that to be professional photography." Everybody else and their dog was snapping pics with their point-and-shoot cameras--in spite of the "no flash photography" signs posted everywhere. Oh, well. More Doobie photos here

2009 Hogs 'N Rods (Retouched)Also went to the Hogs 'N Rods Rally in Collinsville. There were a lot more vendors this year than in the past. I don't own a motorcycle or a "hot rod," but I love looking at the paint jobs. More Hogs 'N Rods photos here.

Politics
Let's see, in the world of politics, BO continues to be hell-bent on taxing the dog-snot out of those of us that chose to get off our butts and work for a living. Funny, I thought he promised not to do that. While the rest of the country/world was going nuts over Michael Jackson's death, our self-centered Congress passed the "cap and trade" bill. It still has to make it through the Senate, but I'm not so sure there's enough "No" votes to shoot it down.

It cracks me up to listen to all the global warming people talk about how we need to save the planet...as if we really could. I think we should be good stewards of what we've been given, but there's nothing--repeat NOTHING, we can do that will stop the inevitable. The book of Revelation says this place is going to be burned up and replaced with a new one when Jesus comes back. Why would we want to save this dump? The new one has GOT to be better...especially without the politicians!

Happy Birthday, America
In spite of all of the silliness and greed that goes on in America, I still thinks it's the best place in the world to live. Sadly, I don't think we are far from collapse thanks to the "hope and change" we got back in November 2008. I hope I'm not here to watch it happen. Until then, Happy 233rd Birthday, America! Thank you to all the men and women who have and continue to serve and protect us...military, police, fire, etc. You guys are the real American heroes.

A Win is A Win, But...

Obama won the election; saw that one coming. However, as I look at the election results, something very interesting sticks out to me.

2004 Election Results

  • Bush = 51% 62.0 million votes
  • Kerry = 48% 59.0 million votes
  • Total votes = 121 million

2008 Election Results

  • Obama = 52% 62.6 million votes
  • McCain = 48% 55.5 million votes
  • Total votes = 118 million

Two observations:
(1) BO won the election...by a margin barely more than Bush! ONLY ONE PERCENT!!! How does that happen after you spend over $600 million!!! (Outspent McCain 6-to-1)

(2) Three million FEWER voters turned out for the two parties in this election than in 2004!!! What was all that hub-bub about "record numbers of voters/"

A win is a win, but boy this one sure is lame compared to what we were led to believe would happen!

Obama Fairness

I got this in an email this morning; not sure if it's legit or not, but that's not the point. It makes perfect sense...if you're voting based on something other than race.

Dear Fellow Business Owners:
As a business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama, wll be our next President, and that my taxes and fees, will go up in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure, that the customer, will have to see an increase in my fees to them of about 8 percent. I will also have to lay off 6 of my employees. This really bothered me as I believe we are family here, and didn't know how to choose who will have to go.

So, this is what I did. I strolled thru the parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on my employees' cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.

I can't think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know. I am sending this letter to all business owners that I know.

Sincerely...

Any DOPE that thinks they're going to receive a "tax cut" from Obama and not be paying more for goods and services from companies that WILL be paying more taxes gets exactly what they voted for.

I Hate Sarah Palin!

sarah_palin_2I was talking to a rabid an avid Obama supporter yesterday and I asked her why she supported Obama rather than McCain. All she could say was: "I hate that Sarah Palin and her family!" or "I hate that George Bush" or "All Republicans care about is money!"

When I asked her what specific things she thought Obama would do as President, she replied: "I don't know for sure what he's gonna do...I just know it won't be eight more years of failed Bush policies."

There you have it my friends--an in-depth, point-by-by-point recitation of Obama's platform, articulated by your average Obama supporter. And remember... her vote counts the same as yours. (I wonder if she could name the failed Bush policies she holds in such contempt?)

Why Obama Will Win

shopping_carts

It's simple. The picture above explains it all. Obama will win the election because many people--MANY AMERICANS--are lazy, self-centered, slugs. They believe it's someone else's job to clean up after them. That's why they don't do something as simple as putting their shopping cart in the rack after they unload it at Wal-Mart. "Someone else will get it." "It's too far across the parking lot to walk." Basically, they don't give a crap!

How does that tie in with an Obama victory? He has promised to take care of those same lazy, self-centered slugs by taking money from the EVIL rich people (according to his definition) and giving it to people who think they are "entitled" to something.

Just like it's easier to just leave the shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot, it's easier to sit on your butt and collect a check rather than earning one.

Stupid Voters

I am not a Howard Stern fan, but this is worth a listen. Seems he sent one of his staff to Harlem to interview people, specifically to ask them who they were voting for. The catch? If they said Obama, Sal (the staffer) would then interject McCAIN'S policies into the interview as if they were Obama's. The results are shocking! Remember: these people's vote counts as much as yours!

I Feel Safer Now

At the Saddleback "forum," Barack Obama was asked by Rick Warren: "...Who are the three wisest people you know in your life? And who are you going to rely on heavily in your administration?" Obama's answer (in a nutsell): "My wife, Michelle. My grandmother. I don't think I'd restrict myself to three people...Sam Nunn...Dick Lugar...Ted Kennedy...Tom Coburn."

So, it's late at night, the "Red" phone rings and we hear: "Honey, can you get grandma on the other line and come in hear a minute. Iran's getting to launch an attack and I need to now if I should press the button?! Where'e that drunk, Ted Kennedy when you need him?"

Yep. I feel a whole lot safer now.

Quote of the Day

From ABC News: "Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn, an Obama supporter, compared Clinton to the Glenn Close character in "Fatal Attraction" -- a spurned woman turned stalker who was apparently drowned in a bathtub only to jump up one more time to be shot dead."

Disclaimer: I'm not an Obama support...but this is STINKIN' FUNNY!!!

If I Were President- Continued

Conintuing my thoughts "If I Were President..."

  • Welfare is limited to two years (I actually think I'm being generous here). After that, get off your butt and get a job. Also, if you already have four kids and you're on welfare...and you get pregnant--WELFARE ENDS! Better find yourself a charity that doesn't mind the fact that you can't keep your pants on. That "charity" ain't me.
  • "Deadbeat dads," when caught, will be beaten to within an inch of death--hence the NEW definition of the name. I prefer public caning.
  • You can't get a driver's license until age 17. Don't even start telling me about how "Johnny" needs to drive to his job. He spends all his money on video games and junk food. He's fat and needs to lose about 50 lbs. You're his mother/father; drive him to the gym before he eats and sits his way into a heart attack before he turns 30.
  • No help, i.e. government assistance, for you idiots that bought homes on a variable rate mortgage (based on 30 percent of our gross income) and then found out your payment doubled. You couldn't afford a 3000 square foot home then...and YOU AND I can't afford it now.
  • If you can't afford a home (see above), you dang sure can't afford those cigarettes, beer and cell phone. Quit whining about how rough you've got it...you created your own problems.
  • Tailgaters and people that don't stop at stop signs will be shot on sight. (This one may be a stretch.)

If I Were President

I've been at my parent's home in the Florida panhandle for the last week, so I've been somewhat out of pocket. However, several things have caught my attention since my return that I feel compelled to address. Please note, I am NOT looking for anyone's approval/disapproval or for an argument...so if you happen to read this and disagree, don't waste your time trying to "convert me." I won't respond.

Philadelphia Police Brutality
There is a very simple lesson here, boys and girls: If you stand on the street corner and shoot at people, then run from the police, DO NOT...I repeat...DO NOT be surprised or even think about crying when they catch you, drag your sorry behind out of the car and proceed to BEAT THE DOG OUTA YOU!!!

Ethnic Pride
I've heard Barack Obama speak about his "African American" heritage. What I'm trying to figure out is: If his Father was black and his mother (whom I don't believe we've ever seen) was white, how come the "African American Pride gene" was more dominant than the "White American Pride gene?" Just asking.

Lethal Injection/Death Penalty
Back in April, the Supreme Court "upheld Kentucky’s method of execution by lethal injection, rejecting the claim that officials there administered a common sequence of three drugs in a manner that posed an unconstitutional risk that a condemned inmate would suffer acute yet undetectable pain." (Source) As of January/February 2008, there are 3,263 inmates on Death Row in American Prisons (Source). (Just for sake of comparison, the town I grew up in boasted a population of just a little over 3000.) California, Florida and Texas lead the pack with 669, 388, and 370 respectively. I say we start lining 'em up and free up a little real estate.

FINALLY...If I Were President
If I were President of the United States, and had the power (the President really doesn't have the power to DO much of anyhing) I would implement the following policies (in no particular order of importance). This is by no means an exhaustive list; just a start.

  • Congressmen, Senators, etc (State and Federal levels) would be required to have actually held a REAL JOB before they could "serve." Sorry Ted Kennedy and Barack Obama. Being a lawyer doesn't count, either.
  • Lawmakers would not have their own "health care system." They would be required to find group insurance just like the rest of us.
  • Leftover monies raised for campaigns would be donated to the Red Cross (or similar organization) once a lawmaker left office. You don't get to keep it!
  • Prisons would become prisons. Make it so no one would ever want to go there. No cable, weight room, etc. We would bring back the "chain gangs" and they would be put to work ACTUALLY DOING the jobs we pay many government workers to do while they lean on a shovel or other work implement.
  • Fair Tax (Website) IMMEDIATELY. IRS---out of business.
  • Zero tolerance for gangs/gang activity.
  • Twenty plus years for appeal of death sentences are GONE. Trial--guilty verdict--one year (max) to review--next day: your last meal and your last breath.
  • No more fighting wars /police actions like a bunch of girls. Go in--kick butt--and take names! It's done. We're too STINKIN' NICE!!!
  • Lawmakers cannot serve for life. TERM LIMITS--max 2.
  • School teachers would be paid a decent wage for being GOOD TEACHERS. Get rid of the dead wood, I don't care how long you've been "in the system."
  • Voter identification in all 50 states...IN ENGLISH. You can't read? I don't want you voting on how things are done.

That's enough for now. I may be back.

That's How I Remember It

I haven't had the opportunity to write anything lately because I've been out-of-pocket, so to speak. I couldn't say anything at the time, but now that I'm home, I can safely tell you that I spent the last couple of days at the International Space Station.

I know a guy that knows a guy and he was able to get me a stand-by ticket. We left Friday afternoon and hooked up with the Space Station that evening. Talk about AWESOME!!! They had a special dinner all ready for us when we got there and then they gave us a tour. Man, they've got some really cool gadgets up there in space! Saturday morning, they took us on a space walk and I got to help them work on some of the solar panels. (I'm qualified to do that because I've seen the sun before.) Saturday afternoon was spent in the laboratory working on some experiments--we built a perpetual motion machine, found a cure for cancer in white mice and developed a face cream that will take 20 years off your appearance.

After a very nice brunch Sunday morning, we packed and headed back home. As we were landing in Florida, we were told there might be sniper fire, so when we got off the shuttle, we had to run very quickly to the hanger! All in all though, it was a really nice trip. One thing taht was disappointing: they didn't have food or drink service on the Space Shuttle which I thought was kinda cheap!

The above story may or may not be true, but if Hillary can get away with it...

Special thanks to michellemalkin.com for the photo.

Change

"Does anyone actually believe Kennedy would back a candidate who had any real intention to change how things are done?" (Quote by The Underminer)

Hands On

In an interview on the Today Show this morning, former President Clinton was asked what his role would be in the White House should his wife become President. "I won't be on the Cabinet, but I will be hands on."

He didn't mention "who" his hands would be on.

Septic Truck

The Presidential election isn't until November 2008! I'm already sick of the whole mess...and I can't even begin to imagine another eight years of a Clinton in the White House, but I'm afraid that's exactly where we are headed.

Check out the "vanity tag."

Feel Better Instantly

I received the following instructions in an email this morning. It really works.

HOW TO START EACH DAY WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK

1. Create a new file folder on your computer.
2. Name it 'Hillary Rodham Clinton'.
3. Drag it to the recycle bin.
4. Empty the recycle bin.
5. Your PC will ask you, 'Do you really want to get rid of 'Hillary Rodham Clinton?'
6. Firmly Click 'Yes.'
7. Feel better instantly.

Next week, we'll do Nancy Pelosi.

I'm Not Votin' for This

What do these three men have in common? Just in case you don't recognize them, they are (left to right): Joseph Smith, Glenn Beck and Mitt Romney and they are, for lack of a better label, "Mormons."

Smith is the "founder" of the Mormon church, aka The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Glenn Beck is a radio talk show host; he also has a "news" show on CNN.
Mitt Romney is one of SEVERAL Republican presidential hopefuls.

Smith claimed to have been given direct revelation from God, via an angel named Moroni. Under Moroni's inspiration, Smith wrote "another testament of Jesus Christ"-The Book of Mormon; he also wrote "The Pearl of Great Price" and "Doctrines and Covenants", all of which are said to be of equal value or importance as the Bible. Mormons also wear special undergarments or "holy underwear" that "remind[s] members of the church that they have chosen to be obedient to the commandments of the Lord." (Source).

I'm sure I'll be accused of being biased or unfair in my assessment, but this whole "mormon thing" sounds kinda silly to me. I think Joseph Smith pulled a fast one. I think Glenn Beck is funny on the radio; I don't like his TV show. Mitt Romney wants to be president, but I just can't bring myself to vote for someone that could fall for something this silly. A radio host is one thing, but President? Naw. I need a President that can't be suckered.

Fred Thompson

I would vote for this guy if he got the Republican nomination.

The Wisdom of Mark Twain

"Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself."
